St Colman’s Church Kinvara 200th Anniversary

St Colman’s Church is the official parish Church of Kinvara Parish, and is the oldest Church still in use in the Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora.

The date of dedication of a Church is considered its ‘birthday’ and this is the 200th anniversary year of the dedication of St Colman’s Church. Don’t forget to put on your diary the evening of music and culture with presentation on the history of St Colman’s Church in Kinvara Community Centre on Saturday, 21st September, and the 200th anniversary Mass, to be celebrated by Bishop Brendan Kelly on Sunday 22nd at 12 noon.

Thank you to those who have made contributions to the St Colman’s Church anniversary collection. Envelopes are still available at the doors of the Churches if you wish to contribute.

CHY3 Forms for Parish Contributions

Those who have received letters with the CHY3 form are asked to please return the form to the parish office. As a registered charity, the parish is able to claim from Revenue for donations over €250 in a year. This costs nothing to the donor. We cannot make a claim for your donations until you fill the CHY3 form. Therefore, using this system is a great help to the parish. Many thanks to parishioners who use the envelope box system that makes it possible to avail of this possibility. If you would be willing to use the envelope box system and are not already doing so, please send your name and address to the parish office.

Special Collection Bishops’ Conference Commissions

There is an envelope in the parish envelope box next week for the annual special collection for the commissions of the Irish Bishops’ Conference (the ‘hierarchy commissions’). This funds activities and Church outreaches organised at national level in areas such as catechetics, seminaries and vocations, communications, doctrine, ecumenism, education, emigrants, justice and peace, laity, liturgy, missions, pastoral, research and development.

Loop Hearing Aid System

loopThis system is now installed in St. Colman’s Church, Ballinderreen, St. Colman’s Church, Kinvara and St. Joseph’s Church, Kinvara. However, this system will not be available in St. Kieran’s Church, Doorus as the Church is too small for it to be effective.

In order to avail of this facility please switch your Hearing Aid to the ‘T’ position.

Induction loop systems are invaluable in assisting hearing aid users to understand spoken language, particularly in situations where there is background noise. Hopefully, this will be of great benefit to all hearing aid users.
