New National Children’s Hospital
The best for Ireland’s children
Dear Parishioners,
As you read this, the Development Board of the New National Children’s hospital is awaiting clearance from Government and is set to proceed with building the country’s Children’s Hospital on the St James’s Hospital (SJH) campus in Dublin city centre.
Serious site constraints at SJH will mean unacceptable compromise – no on-site Maternity hospital for at least 15 years (if ever), major traffic and access problems, totally inadequate parking, very limited expansion space. Many other problems are brewing for both the adult and children’s hospitals on that site.
Fifteen top medical experts in Crumlin and Temple St. hospitals who look after our smallest and sickest babies have said to proceed with this project will result in the avoidable death or disability of many new-born babies for years to come. (see Connollyforkidshospital.com for full text). They have been silenced.
Why has the Government chosen to ignore the obvious answer – the 145 acre site at James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, on a slip road off the M50/N3 interchange? There is an adult academic teaching hospital there. The Rotunda Maternity Hospital is moving there. Mothers from all over the country diagnosed with high-risk pregnancies could be delivered there and babies be transferred by a short corridor to the new children’s hospital for specialist care with their mothers close by. It could open the same day as the New Children’s Hospital.
We cannot allow the Government to turn its back on sick babies from every corner of the country. Only a few weeks are left for this decision to be reversed and commonsense to prevail. There will be no second chance. Our children and their children are depending on us to ensure the best hospital is built for the best reasons – the health and wellbeing of our children, not the vested interests of adults. Please act now and demand that the new children’s hospital is co-located with the maternity at Connolly. Ensure your community will be heard. You can do this by contacting and demanding support from your local public representatives (see www.gov.ie). For further information and contact details for our spokespersons, visit www.connollyforkidshospital.com.
Connolly for Kids Hospital is also on Facebook and Twitter so please share.
Sincerely,
Connolly for Kids Hospital.
Kinvara FM
Is pleased to announce that you can now listen to it on the internet every Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 8pm. The Saturday Vigil Mass from St Joseph’s Church can now be heard every Sunday at 12 noon on 92.4 FM. Please pass on this news to those in the community who are unable to attend Mass.
Items at the back of Church
You are welcome to take, free of charge, the prayer cards and religious magazines etc. left at the back of the Churches (except the Irish Catholic, which has to be paid for).
Coeliac Hosts
Please indicate to Priest or Minister of Holy Communion as you receive.
Car Parking in Ballinderreen Church grounds
Please do not block the exits in the Church Car Park
Loop Hearing Aid System
This system is now installed in St. Colman’s Church, Ballinderreen, St. Colman’s Church, Kinvara and St. Joseph’s Church, Kinvara. However, this system will not be available in St. Kieran’s Church, Doorus as the Church is too small for it to be effective.
In order to avail of this facility please switch your Hearing Aid to the ‘T’ position.
Induction loop systems are invaluable in assisting hearing aid users to understand spoken language, particularly in situations where there is background noise. Hopefully, this will be of great benefit to all hearing aid users.
