Mass for the Sick

This Tuesday 11th February 2025 is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, World Day of the Sick, and so the 7pm Mass in Ballinderreen will be offered for those who are sick. There will be tea and refreshments and a chance for a chat in the Acorn Centre meeting room after the Mass.

The Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated at the Mass. This is one of the seven Sacraments of the Church, and so it is not just a simple blessing.

Here is the guideline for who may receive the Sacrament:

‘1. The anointing of the sick can be administered to a member of the faithful who, having reached the use of reason, begins to be in danger due to sickness or old age. 2. This sacrament can be repeated if the sick person, having recovered, again becomes gravely ill or if the condition becomes more grave during the same illness.’ (Code of Canon Law, canon 1004)

Storm Éowyn Friday 24th January 2025 Mass time 7pm

Please note that Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara on Friday 24th January 2024 will be at 7pm instead of the usual morning time. This is in order to wait until the times of the storm weather warnings have expired, for the sake of the safety of our congregation.

As weather warnings can change as the situation develops, please check them and only venture out if it is definitely safe to do so.

The Parish Secretary will work from home, and so contact with the Parish Office will be by telephone only on this Friday of the storm.
