Prayer for the Synod

Bishop Michael Duignan has asked us: ‘Please remember in your prayers Pope Francis and those who are gathering in Rome during the month of October for the Universal Synod. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them in their deliberations as they try to listen to discern what God is asking of his People – the Church today.’ Bishop Michael has sent us this prayer for the intention:

Annual Church Collection for COPE Galway 2023

The annual Church collection for COPE Galway takes place this weekend, 23rd – 24th September 2023. Those using the parish envelope box will find the COPE envelope in the box. For those not using the envelope box who would like to contribute, please write COPE Galway on an envelope and put it in the offertory basket.
 
COPE Galway was originally founded by Galway Diocese, and has grown into a charity providing three main areas of service:
 
Homeless service: provision of emergency accommodation, assistance with health, education and advice, day services such as meals and laundry;
 
Domestic abuse service: refuge accommodation and outreach for women and children;
 
Senior support service: Meals for older people (meals on wheels), community support and day centre projects.

Kinvara Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament re-starting in September

After the Summer break, the weekly day of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in Kinvara will re-commence on Thursday 7th September 2023.

Adoration takes place in the Adoration Chapel at St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara on Thursdays, from after the 10am Mass until 7.30pm. All are welcome to come in for a while to pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament during the day.

However, in order to respectfully have Adoration, we need to have people present with the Blessed Sacrament at all times while the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. Therefore, we also need some people to commit to a weekly hour at the Adoration. Thank you to those who do this each week. But, we now need more people. Please consider if this is a commitment you could make. If you would like to make this commitment, please contact Fr Hugh or Bina Mitchell, the coordinator of the list.

Refurbishment of the Adoration Chapel was completed a year ago, and so it is warm and comfortable at all times of the year, and noise from outside has been excluded also. There is a hepa filter machine working very quietly throughout the time of Adoration to protect from any risk of Covid infection.

7pm: At the Grotto outside St Colman’s Church, Ballinderreen.
The annual Mass outside at the Grotto in Ballinderreen is always a special occasion. To celebrate Our Lady’s feast, there will be tea and refreshments for all in the Acorn Centre behind the Church after the Mass.
