Blessing of Throats after this weekend’s Masses
As 3rd February is the Feast of Saint Blaise, the traditional blessing of throats will take place after all Masses this weekend, using candles blessed at the Saturday 7pm vigil Mass in St Joseph’s, Kinvara. St Blaise was Bishop of Sebastea in Turkey in the fourth century. A boy was choking to death on a fishbone he had swallowed, and his mother brought him to St Blaise, who prayed for him and he was cured. Therefore, St Blaise has been invoked since that for ailments of the throat. He died as a martyr for the faith.

This system is now installed in St. Colman’s Church, Ballinderreen, St. Colman’s Church, Kinvara and St. Joseph’s Church, Kinvara. However, this system will not be available in St. Kieran’s Church, Doorus as the Church is too small for it to be effective.
In order to avail of this facility please switch your Hearing Aid to the ‘T’ position.
Induction loop systems are invaluable in assisting hearing aid users to understand spoken language, particularly in situations where there is background noise. Hopefully, this will be of great benefit to all hearing aid users.
