Blessing of Throats
As the Feast of Saint Blaise took place during the week, the blessing of throats will take place after the 9am Mass in Doorus and 10.30am Mass in Ballinderreen this Sunday 9th February 2024. (It already took place in the other Churches last weekend.)
Mass for the Sick

This Tuesday 11th February 2025 is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, World Day of the Sick, and so the 7pm Mass in Ballinderreen will be offered for those who are sick. There will be tea and refreshments and a chance for a chat in the Acorn Centre meeting room after the Mass.
The Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated at the Mass. This is one of the seven Sacraments of the Church, and so it is not just a simple blessing.
Here is the guideline for who may receive the Sacrament:
‘1. The anointing of the sick can be administered to a member of the faithful who, having reached the use of reason, begins to be in danger due to sickness or old age. 2. This sacrament can be repeated if the sick person, having recovered, again becomes gravely ill or if the condition becomes more grave during the same illness.’ (Code of Canon Law, canon 1004)
