Becoming a Catholic

For adults who wish to become a Catholic. Leaflets are available in the Church porches to explain further. The Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults programme will begin in the Autumn, leading to Baptism (or reception into full communion with the Catholic Church), Confirmation, and First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil in Galway Cathedral on Holy Saturday night, and on to continued deepening of faith and living the Christian life.

Cemetery Masses 2025

During the Summer, we will have the celebration of the cemetery Masses in Kinvara and Ballinderreen Parishes. We lovingly remember the faithful departed and offer Mass for them, and we pray for the consolation of the bereaved. Fr Hugh will bless the graves after each of the Masses. There will be four cemetery Masses on the Friday evenings of the weeks ahead. With the number of cemeteries in the two parishes, the larger cemeteries have Mass every year, and the smaller cemeteries have Mass every second year.

The dates for the Masses in the cemeteries are as follows:

Mountcross Cemetery: Friday 11th July 2025 at 7pm. (If weather is very inclement, the Mass would move to St Colman’s Church, Kinvara.)

Drumacoo Cemetery: Friday 18th July 2025 at 7pm. (If weather is very inclement, the Mass would move to Ballinderreen Church.)

Doorus Cemetery: Friday 25th July 2025 at 7pm. (If weather is very inclement, the Mass would move to Doorus Church.)

Killeenavara Cemetery: Friday 1st August 2025 at 7pm. (If weather is very inclement, the Mass would move to Ballinderreen Church.)

May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
