A Galway hooker at Cruinniú na mBád 2018

The annual Cruinniú na mBád festival, celebrating the traditional commerce that existed between the coasts around Galway Bay, was held in Kinvara from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th August 2018.

Mass was celebrated at the pier on the Sunday.

Mass was celebrated at the pier at 12 noon on the Sunday. Fr Hugh Clifford was joined by concelebrants Fr Phonsie Flatley SMA, a native of Kinvara, and Fr Anthony Keane OSB of Glenstal Abbey, who is a regular visitor for the Cruinniú. The Kinvara Parish choir sang at the Mass, and the liturgy was prepared by Marie O’Shaughnessy and Máire O’Keefe. Funeral of David McCormack R.I.P., Northampton, Kinvara

Reposing at the Corless Funeral Home, Kinvara, on Tuesday 18th September 2018 from 5pm until 8pm.

Removal to Saint Joseph’s Church, Kinvara on Wednesday 19th, to arrive for 12 noon Funeral Mass. Burial after in Mount Cross Cemetery.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Mass in Foy’s Cemetery

Mass will be celebrated in Foy’s Cemetery (in Ballinderreen Parish) on Friday 14th September 2018 at 7pm. In the case of inclement weather, the Mass would transfer to Ballinderreen Church.

Please be early for Bus to Phoenix Park

Please note that the parish bus to Mass with Pope Francis in the Phoenix Park will leave at 7.30am sharp from Kinvara and 7.40am sharp from Ballinderreen tomorrrow morning, Sun 26th August 2018. Please arrive in good time, as the bus must be parked in Dublin before 10.30am. Our bus will park at Harris Commercial Business Park, Naas Road. There will be a 5km walk then to the Phoenix Park.

No Mass in Doorus on Sunday of Papal Mass

Please note that there will be no 9am Mass in Doorus Church on Sunday, 26th September 2018 due to the Mass being celebrated by Pope Francis in the Phoenix Park.

The other Masses in Ballinderreen and Kinvara will go ahead as normal.

Welcome to Monsignor Malachy Hallinan who will be celebrating the 10.30am Mass in Ballinderreen and the 12 noon Mass in St Colman’s Church, Kinvara on this Sunday, and thanks to him for giving Fr Hugh the opportunity to accompany the bus of parishioners travelling to the Phoenix Park for the Mass with Pope Francis. Mons. Malachy is a native of Ballinderreen Parish.

Parish buses to World Meeting of Families: Arrangements

For those who have booked onto the parish buses to the occasions with Pope Francis during the World Meeting of Families, here are the times the buses will be leaving. Early departure times are necessary to allow for long delays associated with the movement of such large crowds.

Saturday, 25th August 2018: Festival of Families, Croke Park

11.00am: Bus leaves Kinvara (car-park behind St Joseph’s Church)

11.10am: Bus leaves Ballinderreen (car-park at Ballinderreen Church)

Sunday, 26th August 2018: Mass with Pope Francis, Phoenix Park

7.30am: Bus leaves Kinvara (car-park behind St Joseph’s Church)

7.40am: Bus leaves Ballinderreen (car-park at Ballinderreen Church)

* Please make the payment for the bus to the parish office in the days before we travel to Dublin, so that we won’t have to be carrying money on the day.

Cruinniú na mBád

Tá Cruinniú na mBád faoi lán seoil i gCinn Mhara. The 12 noon Mass this Sunday 12th August 2018, will be celebrated at the pier (N.B. not in St Colman’s Church). Beidh an tAifreann á cheiliúradh trí Ghaeilge.

Galway Opening Ceremony for World Meeting of Families

There will be a special Mass in Galway Cathedral on Tuesday, 21st August 2018 at 7.30pm, celebrated by Bishop Brendan Kelly, to mark the opening of the World Meeting of Families.

This will be an opportunity to participate in the World Meeting of Families, even if you cannot get to Dublin for any of the events of that week.

There will be no 7pm Mass in Ballinderreen that evening.
