Mass times: Vigil on Wednesday 14th in St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara at 7pm; morning Mass on Thursday in St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara at 10am; outdoor Mass at the Grotto outside Ballinderreen Church on Thursday evening at 7pm.

Special thanks to all who helped with the Mass: Choir and Musicians, Sacristans, Readers, Altar Servers, Ministers of the Eucharist, Sound Technicians, those who set up the chairs and other practical arrangements, and to Mike Burke of the Pier Head Restaurant for a lot of work in the preparations and setting up.
Here are some photographic memories of this year’s 40th anniversary Cruinniú:

The annual Cruinniú na mBád was held in Kinvara from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th August 2019. This was the 40th anniversary of the first Cruinniú. Cruinniú na mBád celebrates the links between Kinvara and Connemara and the distinctive Galway Hooker boats which carried turf from Connemara to Kinvara and other provisions then in the other direction.
On the Friday evening, Dr Michael Brogan, chair of the Cruinniú gave a talk about the history of Cruinniú, outling the reasons for its foundation 40 years ago and fondly remembering those involved in starting it.

Mass was celebrated at the Pier on Sunday at 12 noon, with Fr Hugh Clifford, PP, as celebrant. The weather cleared up beautifully just on time.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the foundation of Cruinniú na mBád, a memorial to the Cruinniú co-founder, Tony Moylan, by the sculptor John Coll, was unveiled.
The Jack Donohue Cup competition for horse-shoe throwing took place during the Cruinniú. The photo shows Jack Donohue, the sacristan of St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara, and his nephew John Donohue, in action at the event.

Cruinniú na mBád 2019: Mass

Just in case of any confusion, please note that the 10.30am Mass in St Colman’s Church, Ballinderreen, will be celebrated as normal. It’s the Mass in St Colman’s Church, Kinvara, that is moved.

Parish Pilgrimage to Knock

There will be a parish pilgrimage to Knock on Wednesday, 21st August 2019. The bus will leave from the car-park at St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara at 11.00am, and from Ballinderreen Church car-park at 11.10am, and will depart from Knock in the evening at 6pm. There will be special celebrations in Knock on the 21st August this year as it will be the 140th anniversary day of the Apparition there. We will attend the 3pm Novena Mass in the Basilica which will be celebrated by Archbishop Michael Neary of Tuam, and the new processional statue for Knock will be blessed at that Mass. It will also be a chance to take part in the Knock Novena.

Funeral of Sheila Carty, R.I.P., London

Reposing at Corless Funeral Home, Kinvara, on Wednesday, 31st July 2019 from 5pm until 8pm, with removal after to the home of her daughter Marian Coy. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11.30am in St Kieran’s Church, Doorus. Burial after in Doorus Cemetery.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
