Catholicism Series – Final Screening: The Saints

Our final episode of Fr (now Bishop) Robert Barron’s Catholicism Series will be screened in the Pastoral Centre at St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara, this Tuesday, 16th April at 7.45pm. This episode is about the Saints. Highlighting Saint Katharine Drexel, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Saint Edith Stein, and Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Fr Barron tells the story of the Church as a vast company of witness who are called by Christ to be a Communion of Saints.

Palm Sunday

A Kinvara donkey

On Palm Sunday, we enter Holy Week, as we remember the enthusiastic welcome Jesus received when he entered Jerusalem, riding on a donkey, with the crowds waving palm branches and shouting ‘Hosanna!’ That atmosphere changed as the days went on, and so we read the Passion Gospel also, the story of Holy Week.

Catholicism Series – Week 4: The Church

The fourth screening of the Catholicism Series will be held in the Acorn Centre, at Ballinderreen Church, on Tuesday 9th April 2019 at 7.45pm.
This week’s episode will be on the Church, entitled ‘The Mystical Union of Christ and the Church: A Body both Suffering and Glorious’.
Fr Robert faces the issue of sin by Church members and the scandals that have caused so much suffering. He explains how the Church is a sacrament of Christ. We’ll see the life story of Pope John Paul II and we’ll find out what it means to say that the Church is one, holy, Catholic and apostolic. Fr Robert also explains the ideas of infallibility, apostolic succession, development of doctrine and the relationship between the Church and the Eucharist.
Again we’ll tour around the world and get to visit Rome, Paris, Krakow and Manila.
Those who have attended our screenings so far have been very pleased with these videos. You don’t have to have seen the others to come to this one. Each can be viewed on its own.

Funeral of Eileen Moran, R.I.P., Ballinderreen

Reposing at Corless Funeral Home, Kinvara, on Monday 8th April 2019 from 5pm until 7.00pm, with removal to Ballinderreen Church. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon, with burial after in Drumacoo Cemetery.

Funeral of Mary Costello R.I.P., Ballinderreen

Reposing at Corless Funeral Home, Kinvara, on Sunday 7th April 2019 from 5pm until 7.30pm, with removal to Ballinderreen Church. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am, with burial after in Drumacoo Cemetery.
May Jesus, whom she adored in the Blessed Sacrament, welcome her into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Catholicism Series – Week 3: Our Lady

The third screening of the Catholicism Series will be held in the Pastoral Centre, St Joseph’s Church, Kinvara on Tuesday, April 2nd 2019, at 7.45pm. This episode will be about Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and is titled ‘Our Tainted Nature’s Solitary Boast: Mary’.
In this episode we get to savour many of the great works of art depicting Mary. Fr Robert Barron discusses the Annunciation, as well as the doctrines of Mary’s Immaculate Conception and Assumption into Heaven. He visits Lourdes and tells the story of Our Lady’s appearances to Saint Bernadette, and we also learn the story of Guadalupe and Saint Juan Diego. Fr Robert explains how Mary is Mother of the Church and Mother of the New Covenant.
Again, we travel the world to experience the sights and sounds of the living faith and this week we will find ourselves in Lourdes, Madrid, Rome, Paris, Chartres, Ephesus and Guadalupe.
Each episode can be understood without needing to have seen the previous episodes. This episode lasts 49 minutes.

Catholicism Series – Week 2: The Eucharist

This Tuesday, 26th March 2019, at 7.45pm, in the Acorn Centre, behind Ballinderreen Church, we will have the screening of our second episode of the Catholicism series with Fr Robert Barron.
You do not need to have been at the first episode to fully benefit from this episode. Each episode stands on its own.
In this episode we will witness Mass being celebrated in many countries. Fr Robert takes us through the parts of the Mass, explaining their meaning, and he will reflect on the meaning of Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist.

The screenings rotate between Ballinderreen and Kinvara on the Tuesdays of Lent. Next week, the screening will be in Kinvara, with the episode on Our Lady.

Fr Barron is now Bishop Robert Barron, as he is now Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles.

First episode of the Catholicism Series of videos: Tuesday, 19th March at 7.45pm

The first episode of the Catholicism Series of Videos will be screened on Tuesday, 19th March at 7.45pm in Kinvara Pastoral Centre, beside St Joseph’s Church.

Episode 1: The Holy Land and the Story of Jesus

In the first episode of the Catholicism series, Fr Robert Barron (who has since become Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles) travels around the Holy Land tracing the story of Jesus as told in the Bible. Our Catholic faith is rooted in this story, the revelation of God become man. This first episode lasts 50 minutes. There is no charge. It will set the tone in terms of the beautiful filming of scenery, providing an inspiring backdrop to Fr Barron’s fine teaching on our faith.
This episode will be like a pilgrimage to the Holy Land for us as we visit the place of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, his public ministry around the Sea of Galilee, and his passion, death, Resurrection in Jerusalem, as well as other locations.
